ABSTRACT

In this section, an attempt has been made to organise the available knowledge, both theoretical and practical, with respect to the use of simulators for training and, more specifically and extensively, with respect to the design of training programmes for simulator-based training. The main conclusion that can be drawn from this review is that there are still many gaps between theory and practice. For several reasons, the development of a methodology for training programme design is proposed as a means of closing these gaps. It is believed that this methodology may serve a variety of purposes and target groups.
