ABSTRACT

The supply chain has attracted much boardroom attention over the last decade. Senior executives have started to recognize the true value that the supply chain can deliver if they approach it holistically and strategically. As a result, organizations are now endeavouring to implement end-to-end supply chain solutions rather than simply ‘improving’ their logistics functions without considering the upstream and downstream impacts. For many organizations, the key challenge in moving to a supply chain operational strategy lies in successfully identifying and implementing a measurement system that steers action towards achieving supply chain goals overall. Developing an integrated system of performance measures across the organization is critical to delivering successful supply chain performance.
