ABSTRACT
The traditional Westphalian conception of international law being state centred is becoming increasingly inappropriate in a global society where non-state actors wield great power. This is true even outside a strict legal context as we are also seeing a "significant shift in international relations theory away from a statecentred 'balance of power' paradigm ... towards a 'transnational relations' analysis".
