ABSTRACT
In recent years concern with a global ethic has come to occupy an important place on our philosophical and political agenda. It raises several questions, such as whether it is new or another name for the old idea of universal morality that goes back to the Stoics, why it is necessary, how it can be arrived at, and what its contents are. This chapter addresses these and related questions.
