Gender Injustice and the North American Free Trade Agreement

This Chapter will examine Gender Injustice and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was the largest economic and legal undertaking ever attempted, having an important impact on women and the labor force. It will look at the North American Free Trade Agreement from its inception, examining first its benefits and then its drawbacks, in general and in regard to women. It will also look at the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).
