ABSTRACT

This chapter will examine Gender Injustice and the United Nations. It will look at the important United Nations’ legislation impacting women’s rights in the fight against gender discrimination and in the pursuit o f gender equality, namely the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the Charter o f the United Nations; the Statute of the International Court of Justice; the Equal Remuneration Convention (ILO No. 100); the Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention; the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms o f Discrimination against W omen (CEDAW ); the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women; the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination; and the Beijing Declaration.
