Textual Notes: Morning and Evening Prayers (1582)
The following textual notes record editorial emendations to the base text (STC 1892); all variants, none of which are substantive, among the thirteen extant copies (see pages 67–8 for identification of the copies); and substantive variants found in the 1574 text (STC 24477.5). the base text has also been collated with the sources listed below and substantive variants are noted; when two sources agree, spelling and other accidentals follow the first source. Alternative abbreviations for the Gloria Patri (“Glory be to the Father, and to the son, and to the holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen”) and for the Lord’s Prayer are not noted. If the title of an individual component differs in the 1582 and 1574 editions, that variant is noted, but alternative titles in the sources are not noted.
