ABSTRACT

Journeying to the north, Caspar Bocarro slept in the town of Caramboe, a son of Muzura, to whom he gave cloths and beads to the value of seven cruzados. Caspar Bocarro spent fifty-three days upon this journey, and more than a hundred and fifty cruzados on presents and his food and that of his company, for whom he also provided. From Kilwa, Caspar Bocarro embarked upon his voyage to Ormuz, and on reaching Mombasa, he found that the roads of Persia were obstructed by the shah, and the country was at war. The details of this journey are recorded in this way, with the names of the villages, lands, and their lords, and also the amount which Caspar Bocarro spent, in case any adventurer should have occasion to attempt this journey again, so that he may know which way to go and what he must spend.
