ABSTRACT

As I have presented it thus far, Scotus’s argument for the existence of a first being does not give much detail about the attributes of this first being. In the rest of this Part, I shall examine Scotus’s attempt to derive the attributes of the first being, and in this chapter I shall outline a method that Scotus discusses in great detail – and tends to reject – to get clear on the strategies that Scotus believes are open to him.
