ABSTRACT

Good development can turn an ordinary well into a good one. When pumping during development, have a vessel of known volume standing by, such as a 5 gal. container, and a stop watch. Time how long it takes to fill the vessel from the discharge and we can estimate how development is going—the time should be shorter as development gets better. Whatever system of development we will use, having drilled with bentonite we must use polyphosphates to get rid of it. With water jetting, mix the polyphosphates in water in our clean mud pits and gently circulate as we develop, thus removing unwanted solids. We will assume that the hole has been developed, is producing water, is free of solids and that we want to test the quality and quantity of water. A flow meter is a device which measures, digitally, the flow of water through it and is fitted into the discharge pipe.
