ABSTRACT
Once a project is conceived it is important for the people development specialist to have a good grasp of who are likely to be the key stakeholders as the project progresses. The quality of relationships between the stakeholders themselves and their relationship with the project owner will be critical to the success of the project. Of particular importance will be the possible roles, activities and availability of the project sponsor and the corresponding contributions and benefits obtained by the project owner. Equally important will be the relationship between sponsor and project owner and how this relationship is initiated, monitored and developed throughout the duration of the project.
