ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to outline the steps necessary to develop the concept design to successful completion on a team-wide basis. It describes the communication and management systems required to address the difficulties that may arise during the design development process, and outlines the range of communication interfaces that are established between client organisations and their design team during the life of the project. It considers the reporting requirements that client organisations should specify to ensure controlled progress and suggests structures to support this communications process in a way that permits iteration and control in equal measure. The chapter uses brief case studies to illustrate the issues.
