ABSTRACT
This chapter tells the story of the Bulgarian experience with democratisation and inter-ethnic relations in the decade following the collapse of the communist regime. This, together with the case study in Chapter 5 detailing Macedonia’s experience, will allow for a critical analysis of the application of the theories discussed in Chapters 1 and 2; that analysis will follow in Chapter 6 and will draw on the lessons from the two case studies.
