Planning Tough Interviews
As a rule, tough interviews should be conducted as part of an overall investigations plan and in compliance with the legal background explained in Chapter 5.
Never rush into any interview without careful planning
You should agree the objectives of each interview with your colleagues and legal advisers, and decide whether or not a confession is important (see Figure 6.1). The chart indicates that, in criminal cases where the evidence is already strong, interviews are less important. In fact, a badly conducted interview could compromise a winning case.
