ABSTRACT

The purchaser has prepared his own conditions, and then the contractor is bound to regard these as being subjective in their approach and to submit them to a critical examination. In many cases the purchaser will have issued his own form for the tenderer to complete. If the purchaser has not issued his own form, it is suggested that in tendering for the supply and installation of plant and equipment. The form should be on the following lines: the covering letter, the specification, list of exclusions and schedule of services to be provided by the purchaser, terms and conditions of sale and the quotation. One reason for avoiding detail in the covering letter is that after initial study it may become detached from the tender itself and be placed on a correspondence file, and so not be referred to subsequently during the tender appraisal.
