ABSTRACT

The management skills in this chapter deals with: motivating; leading; delegation; decision making and problem solving; and project management. Each skill set focuses on performer ownership, performer responsibility, areas of focus or analysis, and it considers some factors for the performer. The factor for motivating includes assessing staff motivation levels. Tuning into and responding to motivation of staff. Provide an optimally motivating environment and behaving in ways which maximize motivation. Helping staff maximize their self-motivation. Protecting and maintaining motivational levels in self and others, and interfacing between organization and staff to protect their motivation. Work environment, salary, security, bonuses, perks, fairness and equality in treatment. The factors also include recognition, acceptance, relationships, challenge, interest, development, and self-control. The skill set for performer ownership adopts beliefs about motivating others; knowledge of motivation methods; attitude towards motivating others; other motivating behavior and continuing development of staff motivation skills.
