ABSTRACT

China's rapid development has attracted worldwide attention in recent years. The implications of various aspects of China's rise, from its expanding influence and military muscle to its growing demand for energy supplies, are being heatedly debated in the international community as well as in the United States . Facing a rising China, there have been increasing wariness, fear, and suspicion from the world, particularly from the United States . The Bush Administration has been advised to adopt a new containment strategy to counterbalance the "China Threat."1
