ABSTRACT
In many conversations enjoyed in preparing this book (and the CCETSW Training Pack-Crompton 1996), I experienced difficulty in explaining what I meant by 1 spirit' or 1 spiritual' and in asking other people to discuss their own ideas and beliefs. I was greatly aided by the good spirit with which my stumbling attempts at communication were received. The main problem seemed to be diffidence in using vocabulary which might be regarded as strange, even weird, and offputting or intrusive, and I went to convoluted lengths to distinguish between spirituality and religion.
