ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to assist the change leader appreciate the main aspects of managing successful change projects. It examines the skills and techniques which are still valuable in any management role. To help the change leader, the chapter examines the nature of projects, project planning, and the implementation of the plan to the project’s successful conclusion. It provides the key characteristics together with the uncertain and complex nature of a project. The chapter presents an overview of the project life cycle and the role of the project manager. To plan and control a project, managers need to create a model that describes its complexity along a time line to make sure that it will achieve its goals. This model of the project or plan is used to check the project’s progress as it proceeds, to control the project. Adopting a project management approach enables someone to identify and focus on the priorities, track performance and overcome difficulties.
