ABSTRACT

Butler Matters: Judith Butler's Impact on Feminist and Queer Studies began as a journal project. In 1999, Warren Blumenfeld issued a Call for Papers for a special issue of the International Journal of Sexuality and Gender Studies, which would mark both the tenth anniversary of the publication of Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity (1990), and the release of the book's anniversary edition. The result was an April 2001 issue that we co-edited. Versions of many of its essays, together with its interview of Butler, appear in this collection.
