ABSTRACT

It seems rather incongruous for an academic field barely a quarter of a century old to be contemplating its future in the new millennium. Business ethics, as we know it, is the work of a single generation of scholars, whose contribution to posterity is none too secure. However, business itself is as old as civilization, and, fortunately, the development of ethics in business, as distinct from business ethics, did not have to wait for a group of academics in the late nineteen hundreds. Moreover, ethics will continue to be a part of business, no matter what happens to the subject we call business ethics.
