ABSTRACT

The aviation industry is heavily permeated by information technology. Foremost among the areas which use computer software are the aircraft manufacturing industry and airline marketing divisions. There is no doubt that, among the software used in aviation, some may be considered by the owners of such information as trade secrets. This being the case, owners of information technology cannot avoid their employees, particularly those who are employed in the technological and scientific aspects of such information, acquiring intimate knowledge and know-how of the technology involved in such instances. It is possible, therefore, that such information may be leaked in certain circumstances by the employers concerned or any other person who may acquire knowledge of the technology through partnerships and other collaborative relationships with the owner of the technology. Employees, in particular, may become dangerous competitors for their employer once their employment ceases, thus becoming a potential threat to the latter in his endeavour to safeguard his information.
