ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to make a critical review of the Scandinavian research on men and their families, and the "problem" concerning men's "family orientation" reported in studies carried out in the last 10 to 15 years. In this research it has been assumed that women have come "out," and strengthened their positions on the labor market while men have not taken a corresponding step into the family. The male position has been described as "a lack of concern with child rearing and domestic work."
