ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is not to discuss specific anti-hijacking techniques since each airline addresses those topics during their flight crew security training. Although every hijacking event produces lessons learned, our focus is mainly on hijackings that have occurred in the past five years. An exploration of the background of hijacking, followed by our own analysis of more current hijackings, sets the stage for guidance on what to do if you are hijacked and what a hostage scenario may involve.
