For our purposes, 'bombs5 include improvised explosive devices (IED), improvised incendiary devices (BED) and actual explosive devices (such as grenades)» Improvised explosive devices (IED) contain some type of explosive material (such as C-4 plastic explosive) while improvised incendiary devices (IID) contain some type of compound that bums (such as gasoline). Unless specified differently, the use of the word ‘bomb’ is used interchangeably with 'explosive device’.
