From the time a shipment order is placed with a supplier to the time it arrives at its destination, a massive amount of data is processed and communicated. This data includes information on local carriers, customs, airlines, the global network and logistics services, as well as on the shipment itself. Typically, after a purchase order is made, information will be passed to a bank for financial arrangement and to a third party logistics service provider to arrange shipping. Traxon was founded in Europe in the early 1990s. Traxon-HK, a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Global Logistic System Asia Pacific Co Limited, is a fourth party information agent. Most airlines use the communication network provided by Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques.
