Agriculture and Rural Development Support Services
In societies, where agriculture is of overwhelming importance some teaching of agriculture, farm records and accounts and farm management should take place in primary and secondary schools. Where credit organizations have a rural savings function then the interest charged on loans should be high enough to allow an attractive interest rate to be paid on deposits. The introduction of tractors into agricultural development projects needs careful consideration, each case being examined on its own merits. Rural access roads were also constructed for the use of the farmers who participated in the South Nyanza Sugar Project in Kenya. Logical framework matrices for education and training projects are similar to those for health sector projects. The provision or production of improved potable water supply services is of great importance in the context of rural development and may be achieved by means of projects, micro-projects and programmes concerning the construction of village wells and/or boreholes.
