ABSTRACT
Druce was born in London on 14 July 1846. Interested in entomology from boyhood, he was elected to the Entomological Society in 1867. He was also elected to the Zoological Society in 1870 and to the Linnean Society in 1872, and subsequently served as Vice President to both of them. Druce was also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Horticultural Society.
