ABSTRACT

Of all the different components of driving skill, only hazard perception has been found to relate to accident involvement across a number of studies. Hazard perception can be considered to be situation awareness for dangerous situations in the traffic environment. There is a long history of research into hazard perception testing in which drivers are required to detect potential dangers, usually in filmed road scenes.
