Anne Lock’s Meditation: Invention Versus Dilation and the Founding of Puritan Poetics

From the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, the most readily available modem reprint­ ing of the Meditation was my transcription, distributed through the Women Writers Project at Brown University. But a Canadian edition, subtitled Anne Locke's Son­ net Sequence with Locke's Epistle (Waterloo: North Waterloo Academic Press, 1997), recently appeared, and new editions of Lock’s works, edited and introduced by Elaine Beilin (Scolar Press) and Susan M. Felch (Medieval and Renaissance Texts and Studies), respectively, are now in press.
