ABSTRACT

The signal source is a kind of instrument providing a variety of signals to meet measurement requirements. It is widely used in electronic circuits, automatic control and scientific experiments and other fields (Lv, Wang & Yang 2012, Lv, Yang, Hua & Shen 2010). The Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis (DDS) technology was proposed in 1980s (Li, Yao & Tian 2011). It is widely applied in modern instruments and other fields due to its fast frequency conversion speed, high frequency resolution and continuous output phase (Jin, Lin & Richard 2012, Jongmin, Byung & Han 2015). FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) is one of semi-custom circuits in the field of ASIC. Not only does it solve the problems of custom circuits, but also overcomes the shortcomings of the previous programmable devices, on which quantity of gates is limited (Deng, Yu & Zou 2010). The advantage of FPGA, parallel data processing, makes it be very suitable for the design of signal source based on DDS.
