ABSTRACT

Examining the actual data in the table, another fact jumps out at us: There is tremendous variability within both groups. In other words, there are large differences among the scores of the rape survivors; likewise, there are large differences among the controls. In addition, there is great overlap between the groups. Many of the rape survivors have basic trust scores that are higher than the controls. Thus, any discussion of the average difference should be moderated by a discussion of

17 to 50 another way to describe variability.
