ABSTRACT

When using children as participants, consider whether it is appropriate to ask them for the demographic information you desire. Young children may not be valid sources of information on variables such as ethnicity, household income, and religion. In addition, it might be unethical and insensitive to collect this information from children without their parents' permission. In your proposal, you should address how you will collect such information about the children. For instance, teachers might be asked for information on the children's ethnicity. Whatever manner you plan to use to collect such information, spell it out in your proposal.
