ABSTRACT

Benign esophageal tumors are rare, with esophageal leiomyomas making up the most common benign primary tumors of the esophagus. When these tumors are large in size (>8–10 cm), they often require esophagectomy due to mucosal damage and progression to leiomyosarcoma. We present a case where we successfully enucleated a giant leiomyosarcoma with primary repair and spared the patient an unnecessary esophagectomy.
