Restatement I

The term chosen for this and the following two chapters is restatement rather than repetition in order to avoid the negative connotations surrounding the latter term. On the other hand, the strategic restatement of words and phrases enables the writer to stress an idea, maintain or regain focus, define a term, and even enhance the stylistic quality of the prose. This chapter presents the first of several devices useful for restatement.
