ABSTRACT
Two Definitions: "Recent studies of poverty most commonly define poverty by cash income, using the federal poverty threshold as a marker. Because the index is an absolute dollar amount, not a percentage of the median income nor a percentile, it is theoretically possible for everyone to be above the poverty threshold.
