ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book aims to invite all those interested in counseling and coaching to look at them also in light of the need for change and innovation, which are increasingly considered as indicators of ecological validity and social relevance in research works and interventions. The chapter proposes many reflections on the nature of counseling and coaching and the possible areas of intervention. It includes another thought underlying the collection of contributions that to avoid superficial generalizations, counseling and coaching actions must be "context-centered" and be directed, at least at one of the most important reference areas. These are: health and wellbeing; learning and education; vocational guidance and work; and prevention and participation in community life. The authors believe this to be important because in these different areas difficulties, urgencies, and types of intervention and support to be administered may differ significantly.
