ABSTRACT

The Flanagan Aptitude Classification Test (FACT) consists of 16 separate aptitude tests (one for each of 16 job elements identified by studying critical behaviors in various jobs). The author suggests that the tests are useful for predicting success in various occupational and educational fields. Eight of the tests are mentioned in the excerpt. They are: Inspection (spotting flaws in a series of items), Coding (coding typical office information), Memory (remembering codes used in the Coding Test), Scales (reading technical scales, graphs and charts), Arithmetic (adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying), Patterns (reproducing pattern outlines), Tables (reading numeric and alphanumeric tables), and Mechanics (understanding mechanical principles and mechanical movements).
