ABSTRACT

The introduction surveys some ideas and philosophical theories on emotion and presents the overall framework of the book and a summary of each of its chapters. One can see the thinkers whose ideas the book engages with such as Aristotle, Spinoza, Hume, Nietzsche, and Freud, in addition to recent psychological, psychoanalytic, and philosophy of sport literature. The introduction also offers some preliminary definitions and poses questions, which are examined throughout the book.
