ABSTRACT

This chapter recommends choosing a 'competitive focus strategy' to create a low-cost position in two sectors (solar and wind power), since this allows the creation of synergy between the strategic business units (SBUs) and realises economies of scope, which reduces the cost of design and construction of renewable energy (RW) projects. This is due to the similarity of the system components: charge control, energy storage and preparation for distribution. The chapter examines the political, economic, social-cultural, technological, environmental and legal conditions in a particular market. It presents strategic alternatives and competitive positioning to create a harmonised portfolio of SBUs. The strategy of Samruk-Green Energy LLP is an SBU-level strategy, which has to align with the corporate-level strategy. The internal resources and capabilities of Samruk-Green Energy include its competences, factors, innovations and ideas. The strategy of Samruk-Green Energy should defend the company against the highest threats.
