ABSTRACT
So many things happened in 1908. It was the year when Leautaud started work at the Mercure de France and found himself involved in the literary world. It was the year he met Apollinaire, Billy and Rouveyre, and deepened acquaintance with Gide. It was also the year when he came within orbit o f the tempestuous female who was to dominate his life for the next three decades or so and to make his existence by turns a heaven and a hell.
