ABSTRACT

Any anticancer therapy may lead to hair disorders (including alopecia, hirsutism, hypertrichosis, and pigmentary and textural hair changes) that are usually reversible. The mechanisms underlying these changes remain incompletely understood, which preclude effective therapies against most of these untoward events. The significant impact on patients’ health-related quality of life is frequently underreported. This chapter reviews the various anticancer therapy–related hair disorders in cancer patients and survivors, underlying severity grading systems, and impact on quality of life.
