ABSTRACT

During director run of performances and their end-of-show strike keep on top of all the things that have been discussed plus adding in any new visual, vibratory and text cues during the run, and use of telephones, sight, lights and shadows to cue. An additional tip is to never have blackouts in the normal places for an American Sign Language (ASL) show, but to hold any light cues specifically for the ASL interpreters during the performance. Closed captioning is not a substitute for ASL performances although it may be easier to get funding for. Continue to add in accessible technologies in performance not only for the performers but for the audience. There are so few sensory aware performances happening in any city that it is important that these audiences attend, and important that they see people like themselves onstage.
