ABSTRACT

There is a depth of meaning inherent in working with artists with disabilities who have a bit more baggage than a 'bad day at the office'. Every single one of these artists who learns from, or about, a disabled artist or designer is one more person who gets it, who will then welcome the chance to work with artists with disabilities again, or to cast them or go to see them in a show or to support the theatres which work with them. However, more new companies are emerging in New York and across the US and they are working with more and more marginalized groups and more artists with disabilities. Australia, on the other hand, has Kmart models with prosthetics and disabilities, and fashion models doing fashion shows with disabilities and more advertisers working with disability. Great Britain had enormous advertising ads with disabled people for the 2016 Paralympics, many more than the USA.
