ABSTRACT

Earthen elements, especially adobe, are frequently found in the traditional architecture of many parts of the Iberian Peninsula. The geography and climate of this vast territory, the specific properties of the elements and the constructive variants in which they are used are very disparate. This text presents a catalog of samples collected from different points of the Iberian Peninsula and a preliminary visual analysis, aided by a study fiche and uniform criteria. A comparison of the properties of these elements allows correlations to be established between the constructive typologies they are used in, the properties of the walls, and the characteristics of the individual elements (bond, size, color, measurements, stabilizers…).
