Quality at implementation
Implementation of deliverables is a test of the robustness of any partnership between project and receiving organisation. In a programme, implementation of deliverables from a project remains the interest of the programme until the programme’s business strategy has been fulfilled. All projects should have an Implementation Plan. This should describe the approach to be taken for implementation, the quality elements of which should be set out in the quality plan. Using the guidelines and questions in the template, readiness statement, the risks of implementation can be made apparent for decisions to be made. Many companies will have their own templates based on previous experience and relevant to particular types of project. A Post-Implementation Review should be held after handover, before the project team disperses. Handover is as much a process as testing. A poor handover can damage a relationship between provider and client.
