ABSTRACT

The market area that potentially offers one of the widest, broadest impacts in everyone’s daily life. The financial area, responsible of dictating how good or bad the world’s economy is behaving, keeps pushing further on project management needs. There are two aspects to consider when talking about projects for financial area: the methodology they’re likely to use and their nature. In the financial sector, besides common key performance indicators used everywhere such as the number of bugs detected, deviations from the original target dates and costs and others, there are a few finance-specific metrics that are usually considered – and could be applied in both Waterfall and Agile projects. Having such characteristics, such finance-specific metrics can be useful to assess whether development methodology changes are really improving such performance indicators. Common performance indicators are: time to market, reduction of manual efforts, Service Level Agreement improvements, and amount of application functional failures or exception scenarios and time taken to address them.
