ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how occupational therapists can support children and young people with DCD and their families. Key roles include raising awareness of the condition, contributing towards a diagnosis through assessment, empowering children and families through goal setting and providing information and access to resources as well as providing intervention. Relevant interventions are described and the importance of preventing secondary consequences of DCD are discussed. Finally, a case study illustrates the occupational therapy process with a child with DCD.
