ABSTRACT
Genetically complex disorders, such as DCD, involve a matrix of risk factors including genetic variations, epigenetic effects and environmental influences. In this chapter, we will consider how the development of genetic technologies has changed the way we conceptualise complex genetic disorders. We will discuss how different genetic approaches target different genetic effects and how the consideration of alternative genetic models can maximise the chances of successful gene identification in DCD.
