ABSTRACT
The conclusion summarises the main findings of this book and explores the implications it has for international relations theory and practice. It argues that studying the taboo’s violation offers an important window into the strength of its legitimacy. Furthermore, the conclusion argues that the taboo can moderate the struggle for power in international society and enhance cosmopolitan sensibilities to the vulnerability of human beings to unnecessary suffering.
